The situation in Ukraine - updated statement
Support for Ukrainian refugees
Refugee Support Devon stands in solidarity with all those forced to flee their homes as a result of the horrendous conflict in Ukraine, and will do whatever we can to ensure that Devon plays its part in providing sanctuary to those in need. Currently we are awaiting further information from the national government about the role the UK will play in supporting Ukrainians.
The situation remains extremely fluid and we ask everyone please to continue monitoring local news, our website and social media posts. If you wish to make a monetary donation, then you can do so through the emergency humanitarian response being coordinated by leading aid organisations, such as:
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept donations of clothing or other items at RSD.*
We are not recruiting volunteers for now, but will post any future volunteering opportunities on our website and social media pages.
Please also consider writing to your MP letting them know that Devon is a welcoming county for refugees, and that we would like Devon to play its part in assisting Ukrainian - and other -refugees.
If you are a landlord with a property to rent, please consider letting it to a refugee family. Find our more by contacting Devon County Council.
If you have a spare room in your home and you live in a city, then you might wish to contact the charity Refugees at Home.
Please keep monitoring national and local news to keep abreast of developments as the government and local governments formulate policies to support Ukrainian refugees. Local news and social media networks will inform you about campaigns you can get involved with and petitions you can sign.
*There are a couple of organisations that we know of, CR2EE (https://www.facebook.com/groups/cr2ee/) and Exeter Friends of Ukraine (https://www.facebook.com/Exeter-Friends-of-Ukraine-101409902499415/) who have Facebook presence and who are collecting donations of items at present. Please contact them directly for further information.
Thank you for your interest in our work
