Delia's 100 miles for RSD
Delia Kennedy, a wonderful RSD supporter, is walking 100 miles in March for RSD. 100 miles!!!
You can learn more about Delia and her trusty companion TTT below, but if you would like to donate to support Delia and RSD, please follow this link.
Delia explains her adventure here:
Friday 7th, 8.(65) miles; Saturday 8th, 10.(61) miles; Monday 10th, 8.(69) miles; Tuesday 11th, 9.(35) miles
Whilst sitting on a wall the other day at one of our regular coffee stops, I watched a lone seagull, pure white against a clear blue sky and shining in the sun, casually and silently drifting in large circles without any wing movement. I was transported aloft for a few moments before returning to the hard stone wall I was sitting on! These miracle moments are more than just visionary, they are gifts for us to enjoy and be so thankful for particularly in these challenging times.
TO DO idea: Next time you are out and about, even in a town or city, try looking for a gift of nature which you wouldn't normally notice - maybe a little clump of golden celandines growing beside a pavement, a butterfly or very busy bumble bee searching for its favourite flower. Can you identify that birdsong you can hear?
My little companion, TTT (Team Together Ted) is very important to me for several reasons, - I know that probably sounds pretty 'corny' for an 80 year old, but maybe being 80 is a very good excuse for being 'corny'!
A lovely friend is another admirer and fan of TTT and has written this little ditty on his behalf. Thank you J!
Ted has a home and a roof for his head
A meal on the stove and each evening a bed,
And he’s sad when his friends are homeless instead...
So his next walk, he told us, will help them be fed.
Please help TTT help all refugees wherever they are.

Monday 3rd March - 10.(76) miles; Tuesday 4th - 11.(38) miles; Wednesday 5th - 8.(44) miles; Thursday 6th - 6.(61) miles:
With this amazing and welcome transformation in the weather, we were keen to start striding out to take full advantage of the glorious sun and blue sky. So our first week has been brilliant - literally!
This will be the third year my little companion TTT (read below) and I have been walking for a different charity each month, and for March we are pleased to be walking for Refugee Support Devon. Often whilst chatting to people, I have been asked one or two questions when explaining what we are doing - and why!
One question I have been asked - Do I have a 'must-have' item (or two!) in my backpack that I wouldn't go without? Why, yes, of course it is my little companion 'TTT'!! His name was given to him by Tess Burrows (see her website) when she took him to Glasgow for COP 26 on the back of her bike. TTT stands for Team Together Ted - and there are now 3 or 4 of us in the 'Tess Team' which is very exciting! He is gathering quite a 'fan club' as we travel around, and that in turn is a very useful opening to explain about the charity we are walking for - ie Refugee Support Devon!
Other than that, I try to keep the contents of the backpack minimal as it is surprising how heavy it can get. Always have to keep my coffee flask full and a munchy treat handy as it is good to be able to stop here or there for a few minutes and enjoy the variety of nature's presentations.
'TO DO' idea - make a list of how many colours of nature you find next time you are out and about.
Doesn't matter what the weather is like, you will be surprised!
We'll be back with our next Diary soon.
Delia and TTT!
